In response to many requests of LLI members who participated in a recent survey, a series of classes on the religious traditions of several world religions will be offered in 2017. We will continue our exploration with a look at Judaism. The course will explore four areas: (1) Its History and Background Sources; (2) Its Religious Beliefs; (3) Its Leadership, Authority, and Organization; and (4) Its Customs and Rituals.

A series of six one-hour DVDs narrated by Bishop Robert Barron will be reviewed. Each one focuses on a person who has made a difference in the Roman Catholic Church from an historical perspective. The list includes St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena, G.K. Chesterton, and Michelangelo. The narration, cinematography and music are spectacular. A short discussion will ensue after watching each film.


Wedding and Marriage Customs in Biblical Times

What was it like to get married in Biblical times? There were four distinctive parts to the marriage arrangement. We will examine each phase and look at the wedding traditions and customs of the period. We will discover more about the wedding preparations and invitations. You will be fascinated by the adorning of the bride, the wedding dresses, and other wedding customs. This will be an educational adventure that you don't want to miss!
